Incarcerated Mothers, Parents And Children's Televisitation

Project I.M.P.A.C.T. is a prison video-visitation program for families and minor children of any Ohio incarcerated parent. This program is designed to reconnect the loved ones of incarcerated individuals to make visits to Ohio's penal institutions, who might otherwise not be able to due to socioeconomic, emotional and geographic barriers. Currently, the program is installed in three Ohio prisons; Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio, Allen Correctional for Men in Lima Ohio and Trumbull Correction Camp for Women in Warren, Ohio. Grants from the Cleveland Foundation, United Black Fund and The Sisters of Charity Foundation support this initiative along with justice assistance funding.

Project IMPACT (Incarcerated Mothers, Parents and Children's Televisitation) is a virtual visitation and mentoring program whose mission is to facilitate successful community re-entry and re- unification of inmates and their families by bridging the emotional, financial, social and geographical divides between inmates and their family and providing mentoring support to the incarcerated persons and their children. IMPACT was created especially to overcome the barriers of distance and cost that prevent the visitation of incarcerated parents and their children. However, since its' inception, the program has included at-risk youth who are aging out of foster care in Cuyahoga County.

IMPACT services will be targeted to Ohio's incarcerated, their families and the guardians providing foster and/or kinship care for their children and other at-risk youth and young adults. IMPACT uses state-of-the-art; dedicated video conferencing technology and equipment to create site to site virtual prison visitation and services.
